Paint Shop Pro 5
Tutorial
Chapter Three
The first thing we need to do for this chapter is to make some
color swatches to use for fills. To do that you will need to open two images with white
backgrounds, 100X100 pixels in size.
For the first 100X100 image:
From the "Image" menu choose "Noise", then "Add". Choose
"Noise %" at 21 and make sure the radio button next to "Uniform" is
checked. Click on ok.
From the "Colors" menu click on "Greyscale"
and then go back to the "Colors" menu and choose "Increase Color
Depth" and then "16 million colors".
For the second 100X100 image:
Find the spray can on your toolbar. Select the spray can and then if the Control Pallette
is not on your screen, find the "toggle control pallette" button and click on
it. You will want to choose "Marble" as your paper texture.
Then in the top color box on the right side of your screen you
want to choose the lightest gray color on the pallette.
Now, you need to make a new layer. From the "Layer"
menu, choose new and name the layer Base Color/Design.
On that new layer you want to spray paint the "Marble"
texture.
You will need to find the "Layers Control Pallette" and
open it. Then, where it says "Layer 1", use the slider bar to make the value =
37.
Now, for each of these two swatches you want to add two new
layers. Name one of them, "Color 1", and the other "Color 2".
Choose two matching colors that contrast in the boxes at the right
of the screen.
Now use the "flood fill" tool to fill each of the two
color layers with different color.
Use the slider bars for each layer to adjust the opacity of the
colors to come up with a nice medium.
Here are some samples that I did using the
techniques we already learned in Chapter Two.
Open two images with white backgrounds, and add two
layers named "Pattern1" and "Pattern2".
With the "flood fill" tool chosen, and the "Control
Pallette" open, choose the "fill style" "Pattern". Click on
options, and choose one of the images that you just made. (Alternate each one for two
different textures on each button.) Use the "flood fill" tool to fill the images
with your pattern.
Backgrounds that could go with some of these buttons. (An example only as some of the
buttons above do not match the marble background)
Click on the backgrounds to see them full screen. Use your browsers back button to return
here.
