For Starters
When you first open PSP5 you will see several tool bars. At the top of the screen you will
see the main menu options on the top row before you open a file:
File, Edit, View, Capture, Help
Once you open a file, the top menu will read:
File, Edit, View, Image, Colors, Layers, Selections, Masks, Capture, Window, and Help.
The tool bars can by arranged in any way you want.
The main tool bar that hold the new file, open file, save, print, cut, copy, past, full
view, zoom, toggle tool pallette, toggle control pallette, toggle color pallette, toggle
histogram window, toggle layer pallette, help icon.
Another tool bar which actually holds the drawing tools will have: Arrow, Zoom, Deform,
Crop, Mover, Selection, Free Hand, Magic Wand, Dropper, Paint Brushes, Clone Brush, Color
Replacer, Retouch, Eraser, Picture Tube, Air Brush, Flood Fill, Text Tool, Line Tool,
Shapes Tool.
On the very right side of the screen you will see the color picker. There are two boxes,
the top one for the foreground color, and the bottom one for the background color. The box
just underneath those is the color viewer so you can see where you are in the color
picker.
As you can see PSP5 has lots of things to play with and we will cover each of these menu
items and tools, so by the time you are done reading this tutorial you will have a good
understanding of how PSP5 works.
Then after all that is done and you are having great fun with what you have learned, there
is still more. There are filters, and tubes, and all kinds of new and fun things to learn.
So, after the main tutorial is over, then that advanced tutorials will start.
You may need to do this in small pieces. Read a chapter, go play with what you learned,
then come back and do another chapter. There is no better way to learn then to practice.
