Paint Shop Pro 7 - Matching Picture Frames

Sometimes it's hard to get just the right frame for your pictures. Picking a texture can be truly challenging. Luckily with Paint Shop Pro 7 and the Reflections effects you can create a frame texture that will match your image perfectly.

1 First thing to do is to pick the image you want to frame.

Because we're going to create a frame we need to add some background to put our frame on.

Go to Image>Canvas Size. I added 150 pixels to the width and the height of the image.

2 Create a new layer.

Select the Flood Fill tool and set it to fill with a pattern. Select your image from the texture dialog.

Go to Effects>Reflection Effects>Kaleidoscope

You can play with the settings to get the effect you desire for the frame.

3 Turn off the layer with your Kaleidoscope effect.

Making sure that the bottom layer with your original image on it is selected, click on anywhere on the layer where you picture is not.

Go to Selections>Invert

With your last created layer selected go to Effects>3D Effects>Cutout

Set the shadow to your liking and apply the effect.

Go to Selections>Select None

The final step is to select the layer that your original image is on and with the Deformation tool resize your original to fit within the cutout section.

Merge your layers and save your image.

You now have a nice frame that matches your image perfectly. There are a lot of different ways you can apply this technique. Instead of using a rectangle you could use an oval or any shape you like.
